CACEIS’ Kuala Lumpur-based subsidiary is one of the last entities to officially join the CACEIS group, following the acquisition of RBC’s European asset servicing activities. This operational centre of excellence currently has a staff of over 1,000 men and women focussed on Custody, Treasury, Fund Administration, Fund Execution, and Private Equity & Real Estate servicing. Karmilia Kayzee Khairudin, Director – Transaction Management & Middle Office, sheds light on her role within this new entity, which is of key importance for the CACEIS group.
Karmilia Kayzee Khairudin heads up the Transaction Management department in Malaysia which handles multiple services including Custody Settlement, Middle-Office, Derivatives, and Securities Lending.
Karmilia manages a team of around 150 people who cover the needs of various jurisdictions, working in multiple shifts and servicing groups of clients across Ireland, Luxembourg, the UK and Switzerland. The department handles around 200,000 transactions each month. It is preparing for the migration of clients and the forthcoming integration of operational activities into CACEIS systems.
“The Malaysia teams are very excited as we embark on the journey to CACEIS infrastructure. Since the initial client migration on 22nd January 2024, there have been many memorable moments and exciting experiences. What’s more, we’ve established new relationships with other offices in CACEIS’ global network, including Paris, Amsterdam, and London”, says Karmilia.
Indeed, Malaysia staff members are currently undergoing training to use CACEIS’ IT platforms to ensure we provide clients with the same high standards of service they expect. A lot of the team members spent time at CACEIS' European offices in Paris, Luxembourg, Madrid and Amsterdam, as part of the immersive training course. They will be fully trained up and ready for the client migrations taking place in Q2 2024.
“One of CACEIS’ values which really resonates with me is Solidarity, where everyone from different zones, with various areas of expertise, comes together to share ways to improve efficiency, accuracy and business resilience for the benefit of clients. With CACEIS’ strong corporate values, which also include the “Client First” concept, we believe we are in a strong position to again win the ‘Best Custodian’ in the service provider category of the Private Equity Wire - European Emerging Manager Awards, which CACEIS received in 2023”, comments Karmilia.
The Malaysian entity also recognises the importance of its staff, who are the key to servicing excellence and the driving force of CACEIS’ success. Karmilia is proud to lead the Diversity Leadership Council (DLC) for Malaysia in promoting the ‘People Agenda’. In line with this year's International Women's Day theme, "Inspiring Inclusion", this internal committee recognises the differences between the generations, disabilities and origins of each employee. Many initiatives have been undertaken over the past year and will continue throughout 2024, such as the Ethnicity/Cultural celebrations, Kids at Work, Mother’s & Father’s Day, International Men’s & Women’s Day.
Karmilia was recently given the opportunity to be part of CACEIS’ ‘Women in Leadership’ programme – ‘Be Inspiring’. “In January 2024, all 10 participants of the 2024 programme from across CACEIS’ network came together in Paris for a 2-day workshop. The programme is focussed both on personal development and inspiring other talented women. We realised that working together in solidarity brings so many benefits to CACEIS, in addition to the benefits we gain at a personal level” adds Karmilia.
